Saturday in Holland was our day set aside for visiting folk in Twello, who we knew by email, but had not yet met in person (related to one of our websites). In the afternoon we went out for a walk with Hugo and Liz. We saw these huge pumpkins at the side of the path.
Including all sizes and weird shapes of pumpkins and gourds:
Mike spotted this temporary amateur radio antenna set up on a crane and had to stop to investigate. It was the scouts having a radio jamboree.
We were about to go down the road to the right, when I spied THIS to our left:
YAY! Finally. A real, fair dinkum Dutch windmill. 🙂 Time for photos!
Look at that short hobbit from Middle Earth on the left! Dutch folk are known to be taller than average! But Liz is British, and Hugo is Dutch. However, I thought we must have got it round the wrong way when I heard them speak, because Hugo has a perfect British accent, while Liz has a Dutch accent to her English! Very funny, and pretty amazing that Hugo sounds so British!
The windmill was working and this was inside it:
It was great to meet up with people that we’d only known by email! Then it was back to Aunt Janny’s and time for photos with her before we left early the next morning. Aunt Janny with Zeba:
Then us with Aunt Janny:
The next morning Mike got to negotiate his favourite steps for one last time:
Ha! He didn’t like how steep they were!
We said our fond farewells to Aunt Janny and her lovely home.
And to her super duper fast Internet!
