We enjoyed exploring San Francisco once again, the old trams are so cool! It’s so good that they’ve kept these old streetcars and haven’t replaced them.
We walked down Market Street to the waterfront.
Then we went out on a small boat for a short cruise around the harbour, but before going out into the harbour we cruised past these sea lions sunning themselves.
And past this pelican. I was surprised by how many pelicans we saw!
Pelicans on the land, in the air, and in the sea!
The Golden Gate bridge looked stunning on such a lovely clear day!
So did Alcatraz.
And San Fran!
Our captain gave an amusing commentary!
And had interesting facts about the landmarks, like the Bay Bridge.
In the tourist shops were jailbird outfits galore:
And cable cars.
Okay, so that lobster wasn’t in a tourist shop, but was probably going to end up in a tourist regardless. 😉
These old boats looked so pretty!
We saw quite a few of these little GPS guided tour cars. A good idea!
We walked down to the Ghirardelli factory and got an icecream.
It was eaten while enjoying this view:
Then we hopped onto one of the historic cable cars to head back into town.
We had an interesting chat with a Canadian lady on board who was on her way to Tasmania for a month, and then to NZ for 3 months! She had just retired from her restaurant business and had always promised herself that when she retired she would go and explore New Zealand.
The trip on the cable car was pretty interesting, it’s so cool that these are still operating! They didn’t look easy to use, they take two people to “drive”.
At the top of the famous zig-zagging street!
And passing a familiar USPS van with pretty houses behind it.
We hopped off the cable car at Union Square.
And did a bit of shopping for the kids in Urban Outfitters:
Then we went to a mall where Mike sat down 😉 while I had a look in a Brighton store and a Bath and Body Works store. I liked this curving escalator and had to go up and down it a few times. 🙂
It was interesting to see how much had changed in the past 7 years in the two shops I went into! Nothing much had changed in the Brighton store, but Bath and Body works had changed all their labels (not surprising!) and a lot of their products.
There was a BART entrance in the mall so we hopped on the BART and headed back to our hotel near the airport.
