Towards the end of the day we decided to go to the ruins of the Roman Forum. We walked there on a road following the Tiber river.
On the way we went across to this island in the middle and had a drink there, then carried on.
We walked past these ruins which include marble sinks:
And then… we got to the ruins!
The scale of the ruins is pretty mind blowing.
I really enjoyed wandering around exploring the ruins, Mike had pretty sore feet by this point so he sat and waited for me to get my fill of ruins!
The ancient Roman roads aren’t easy to walk on!
As the sun began to set, we headed to the colosseum and back to our accommodation.
